Keeping website content fresh: A real world example

Fresh website content is essential for rankings, overall site visibility and to keep regular readers engaged. Here's how one of our clients is keeping up.

Laser Advertising just launched a new website for Ardell yacht brokers Brian Hermann and Mike Carlson in October 2010. Brian and Mike are committed to providing service to boat buyers and sellers. This new website acts as an introduction to their expertise and in-depth knowlege of yachts on the market and yachts they represent.

To keep the website fresh on a daily basis, these yacht brokers chose to focus on two ways to update their yachtbrokersales.com website:

  1. Videos of boats for sale and boat shows
  2. Photos and stories of boats for sale

It's only been a month, but Brian and Mike have been posting information, photos and videos almost every day. They gather their information by visiting boats in person, attending boat shows, meeting with captains and keeping up with the industry news.

By posting a variety of new information, they are doing several important things right:

  1. Generating new web pages every week
  2. Using lots of photos with captions
  3. Including videos
  4. Showcasing individual yachts

The challenge for Brian and Mike is to keep up with their schedule. For these two energetic yacht brokers, though, they are able see opportunities to create content. Since they are on the inside track of yacht brokerage, they know what's new and what's developing in the industry. They are now taking that knowledge and getting it onto their website day by day.

The new www.yachtbrokersales.com site was designed to attract both boat buyers and boat sellers. Brian and Mike wanted a website that would stand out from the run-of-the-mill boat brokerage website.

I think it's great that you guys are creating great websites for yacht brokers. You should hook them up with a site we run that is for yachts for sale. All you need to do is to create an RSS feed file in our format that we use to automatically consume their data on a daily basis. This works for all 15 of our vehicle related sites.

Keep up the good work and we hope to see Ardell Yacht's feed coming in soon!
